Urban Hardwoods furniture is handcrafted in Seattle, WA using locally salvaged wood sourced from our Pacific Northwest neighborhoods. In fact, ninety percent of our material is sourced within a 20-mile radius of Seattle. When trees require removal due to hazard or declining health, we work with home owners, tree services and city agencies to salvage and transport the logs to our sawmill to be processed into slab lumber.

Once the logs are delivered to our sawmill in South Seattle, our team processes them into workable slabs that best highlight the natural shape and quality of each log. Though our furniture is modern in design, the technology behind our powerful mill has changed very little in the past century.

Milled slabs are sorted, labeled, and carefully stacked in our warehouse for three years of air drying followed by a 3 week kiln cycle. Our meticulous drying process guarantees the dimensional stability of our material resulting in quality furniture that will last for generations.

We maintain an extensive inventory of this extraordinary material that is integral to everything we build. With over 100,000 board feet of slab inventory ready for manufacturing at all times, we have the ability to meet the needs of any large scale project or find the perfect single piece to fit your unique project needs.

Our work is inspired by our beautiful salvaged material. We allow the color, figure, and shape of each slab to inform our design language, celebrating the unique character of each tree in every piece of furniture we create.
